Trial Prep Means Stepping Outside of Your Own Perspective
Preparation doesn’t stop with reviewing the evidence.
Last month, our team welcomed a mock jury to help us look at a case from a different perspective. The exercise gave us an opportunity to hear how people outside the defense team understood the information presented to them and what stood out along the way.
When attorneys spend countless hours immersed in a case, it can be easy to become too familiar with the facts. What seems obvious to the people who have lived with a case for months may not be obvious to someone hearing it for the first time.
A mock jury allows our team to step back and listen. It gives us the opportunity to test our assumptions and consider how a case may actually be received by the people who could ultimately decide it.
For us, trial preparation is about more than knowing the evidence. It is about continually asking whether our strategy makes sense from every perspective.
The more we prepare before trial, the more prepared we are to advocate for our clients when it matters most.
